Preparation
To access the SAIL Databank, we require the user to have a VMWare Horizon client installed on their local machine.
VMWare offer clients for Windows, Mac and Linux and the SeRP team encourages all users to run the latest stable version of the client on their machine.
VMWare Horizon Clients can be found at – https://www.vmware.com/go/viewclients
The client will require relevant administrative access to the directories that the client installs within.
Connecting to SAIL
To connect to the SAIL Gateway go to the portal website https://portal.sail.ukserp.ac.uk/ and select Launch Platform
You will then need to click on ACCEPT on the following screen to confirm you are an authorised user
Please remember to have your Yubikey ready
Enter your User Name in the first box.
You will be required to use your Yubikey for the passcode box
- Insert your Yubikey in the USB-port with the USB- contact facing upward
- Wait until your Yubikey touch button shines with a steady light or it starts flashing.
- Hold you fingertip on the touch button for 2 seconds. This will automatically begin to authenticate you.
On the next screen you will be required to enter your SAIL Gateway password. Enter your Password in the second box below and click login.
When you have successfully logged in the following screen will appear and you can select your desktop.
Note: Network Access
Any local firewalls or networking equipment will need to enable TCP and UDP connections to https://connect.serp.ac.uk/, for the full technical details please see - Ports required for Horizon VDI
This is important as the client performs a handshake to the connection server and any content filtering solutions may stop the user connecting to the SeRP VDI.
